BSc Full Form also known as Bachelor of Science is also a three-year undergraduate program, is intended to give students specialized knowledge in subjects related to the Science stream. BSc offers more than 114 specializations, such as BSc Computer Science, BSc Agriculture, BSc Biotechnology, BSc Physics, and BSc Mathematics. Students pursuing these BSc degrees have access to a wide range of academic interests in science and related fields.

The eligibility for BSc is passing Class 12th in the Science stream with PCB/PCM/PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology) as core subjects and earning at least 50% of the possible points from an accredited board is the minimal requirement for admission to a BSc program. However, the requirements of each particular college may affect the eligibility criteria. Admission to a Bachelor of Science program is typically determined by merit; however, a number of colleges administer entrance exams, including AGRICET, CUET, ICAR AIEEA, CG PAT, KCET, and AP EAMCET.

What is BSc Full Form?

BSc Full Form is Bachelor of Science. Two additional categories can be used to further categorize the BSc courses i.e. BSc General or Pass and BSc Honors. The BSc General concentrates on a single, broad topic. The major subject is the main focus of the BSc Honors degree. BSc Eligibility Criteria 

The pre-requisites for a Bachelor of Science degree may differ based on the college or university that offers the program. Nonetheless, there are a few standard prerequisites that apply to all BSc programs in India. The following are typical prerequisites for BSc programs:

  • Candidates must pass Class 12 in the Science stream from an accredited board with an aggregate of at least 50% to 60%. 
  • It should be noted that the minimum percentage needed for admission to a BSc program may change based on the requirements of the college or university a candidate is applying to. 
  • The core subject combinations that candidates must have studied were (PCM) Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or (PCB) Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Generally, unless otherwise noted by an institute’s eligibility requirements, there is no upper age limit for pursuing BSc courses.

BSc Admission Process 2024

The admission procedure of B. Sc. may vary from one college to another depending on their requirements. Some of the colleges even offer many dual degree programs as well such as B. Sc. + M. Sc., B. Sc. + MBA, etc.

The admission procedure is usually carried out based on the merit list but there are some colleges that conduct entrance examination in order to shortlist students. Some of the entrance examinations include IAT IISER, OUAT, NEST, etc.

  • Merit Based Admission – Colleges such as Miranda House and Hindu College accepts application based on the marks secured by candidates in 12th class along with their cut off lists.
     
  • Entrance Based Admission – Some renowned universities such as Aligarh Muslim University, and Orissa University Agriculture and Technology accept application based on candidates’ performance in the entrance examinations conducted by these universities. candidates are shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria defined by the university and selected candidates will be required to appear and qualify the entrance examination followed by personal interview round.

Types of BSc Courses

BSc Courses: Full Time

Full time BSc refers to where a student has to spend most of their time in classes and completing their graduation within a specified time. In the case of BSc, the time duration is three years and so a student is expected to complete the course by putting their utmost effort and pass the examinations with flying colors. A student of BSc enrolled full time will have to attend a minimum of 5 hour of class every weekday. (Depends from college to college)

BSc Courses: Part Time

Part time BSc is basically when a student has more flexibility to finish the course as per their time and convenience. Here, the student is not assigned any fixed number of hours required to complete the course. This mode of BSc is mostly preferred by working professionals and students enrolled in other degrees or pursuing other matters.

In the distance BSc, the students have the freedom to learn things at their own pace without the compulsion to go college. Only time the student has to go to college is when they have to write their examination.
